B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering with an Industrial Year Full-time

Year: 3
2025/26 Session

Students must have completed Year 2 (Taught) of their degree before going on placement. The period of Industrial placement is undertaken after Stage II and is contingent on students finding their own placements (with or without assistance from the School).

The progression of students to Year in Industry will normally be dependent on the student obtaining all credits at the first attempt in the relevant year of study and obtaining an overall weighted average greater greater than or equal to 55% in all years completed at the time of applying for placements.

Students who are unable to secure a placement, or who fail to obtain full credits will normally be transferred to a non-integrated programme of study.

Students must have passed at least 100 credits in the relevant year of study by the start of the academic year in which the placement is being taken in order to sit the Year in Industry module (students are only able to defer or fail a maximum of 20 credits in the academic year prior to their placement).
